Planning your next family vacation can seem to be a hectic process. We have some tips to help make the process a little easier. One of the best tips we can give you is to plan!
DESTINATION
Have a family meeting and decide what type of vacation you and your family are wanting. Do you want to explore the mountains or the beach?
These are two different types of vacations that offer family fun in different ways. Have you always wanted to explore a big city? Maybe your next family vacation destination should be the city. Narrow down your destination before you proceed any further.
TRANSPORTATION
This is when you will also want to consider your family budget. Can you afford to fly and rent a car?
Or, is it more economical for your family to drive to your destination? Will a car be necessary when you arrive at your destination? If you do opt to visit a city, parking will be costly and difficult to find at times. A beach or mountain vacation usually offers simple, affordable parking.
LODGING
Many resorts and hotels fill up quickly during certain times of the year. Mountain cabins often need to be booked a year in advance during peak travel season, which is June through August. Oceanfront property often fills during January through March, so plan appropriately. If you can travel to the mountains in the Spring or Fall, your rates will be lower and the crowds minimal. For oceanfront property, May and October are fantastic times to visit. The water is warm, room rates are lower, and there are few people around.
Make vacation planning fun. Nail down your destination, transportation, where you want to stay and then build your itinerary around these things. When you take the time to plan, your family vacation will be memorable and one you will cherish for years to come.
