We recently asked our Facebook Fans what they like to do when they check into an oceanfront property. Their answers did not surprise us. Here is what they had to say:
- Make sure it’s clean
- Hit the beach
- Walk on the beach
- Open the sliding glass door and breathe in the fresh salt air
- Grab the fishing pole
- Go down to the beach
- Make a cocktail, have a beer or pour a glass of wine
- Have a cocktail and then enjoy a nice long walk on the beach
- Hit the beach to feel the sand under my feet
It’s amazing how many comments we receive from our guests on how really clean Tuckaway is. Well, we think you should expect everything to be really clean, in fact we think you should expect exceptional cleanliness. That’s why we’re proud to be a member of the Florida Superior Small Lodging Assn. (FSSL). Did you know there is an organization in Florida comprised of over 170 small “old” Florida style hotels, resorts, Inns and B and Bs? In order to be approved as a member, the property must be inspected and found to offer exceptional cleanliness, meet high standards for guests’ supplies and property maintenance. Once approved as a member, each property continues to have annual re-inspections and must meet the same high standards plus new ones set by the SSLA . They even measure the size of our wash clothes to be sue our guests are getting first rate linens. If a property gets a perfect score, they receive the Dermody White Glove award for “superior housekeeping”. We’ve won that prestigious award for the past five years. We walk our property numerous times a day to insure our guests won’t see any litter on our grounds and even our parking lot. Do we care about our guests? You betcha! If you’re traveling any where in Florida, check out www.superiorsmalllodging.com for a list of all the member properties and their web sites. You can’t go wrong when you choose any of them.
Now, let’s talk “beach.” Tuckaway is located in a more residential type area, so no high rise concrete jungles anywhere around, hence “secluded” beach. Take a look at our 360 degree virtual tour of our beautiful beach.
You feel like it’s your very own private beach and moms love that it’s so kid friendly. If you like taking long walks along the shore, you can walk in either direction and never run out of beach. Even though we didn’t need it, the Army Corps of Engineers, recently “re-nourished” our coastline with even more sand than we already had, so talk about “expansive” beach, that’s us. We provide beach chairs for lounging on the beach.
Calling all anglers, surf fishing off our beach is exceptional; all kinds of catch, depending upon the time of year of course. We even provide a fish cleaning station and it’s only a few steps away from our Big Green Egg. So, you can grill/smoke or bake your catch and we provide the wood chips and utensils. Can’t get any fresher than that.
As far as pouring a cocktail, well, you’re on your own in that department. We can offer the ice, blender in the Cabana building and a wine opener and wine glasses in your fully stocked kitchenette.
No one mentioned hitting the pool, but we have one and it’s nice and toasty warm in the cooler months.
We even have complimentary pool/beach toys for the kids. We can now accommodate those in wheel chairs, as we have a wheel chair pool lift.
One comment mentioned, “opening the sliding glass doors to smell the fresh salt air,” On 1st and 2nd floors, you can lounge on your private patio or balcony, but our 3rd floor suites offer a 9 ft. wide euro “folding” glass door and Juliet balcony; feels like your balcony is in your living room.
We think we’re the only vacation property anywhere around that can offer that amenity.
Have we “peaked” your curiosity enough to plan a visit to Tuckaway to check us out? Based on our many excellent guest’s reviews on both our in-house comment cards and on Trip Advisor, we’re pretty sure you will enjoy your stay with us and you have our promise, we’ll do everything we can to insure you experience genuine hospitality with real “old” Florida ambiance and charm. Hope to see you soon!
